  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples and walnuts.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Once cooled, dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar. Serve and enjoy!
