  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  9. Transfer the cake to a wire rack and let it cool completely.
  10. In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  11. Once the cake has cooled, slice it in half horizontally.
  12. Spread a layer of whipped cream on the bottom half of the cake.
  13. Place the top half of the cake on top of the whipped cream layer.
  14. Frost the entire cake with the remaining whipped cream.
  15. Decorate with fresh berries if desired.
