  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the lemon zest and lemon juice.
  4. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. In a medium bowl, beat the powdered sugar and lemon juice together until smooth and creamy. Spread the frosting over the cooled cake.
