Turtle Cake gets its name from the combination of chocolate, caramel, and pecans, which resemble the colors and textures of a turtle’s shell.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix the chocolate cake mix according to the package instructions.
  2. Pour half of the batter into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  3. Drizzle caramel sauce over the batter and sprinkle with pecans.
  4. Pour the remaining batter over the caramel and pecans.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. In a saucepan, melt the butter and cream cheese over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in powdered sugar until smooth.
  7. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the warm cake.
  8. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  9. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with milk, stirring until smooth.
  10. Pour the chocolate mixture over the cooled cake.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
  12. Serve with whipped topping and enjoy!
