Triple-Layer Chocolate Pie
The first recorded chocolate pie recipe dates back to 1674 in a cookbook titled ‘The Queen-like Closet’ by Hannah Woolley.

In a bowl, combine the chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter. Press onto the bottom of a 9-inch pie plate.

In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in 1 cup of whipped topping. Spread over the crust.

In a small saucepan, melt the chocolate chips with 1/2 cup of milk over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

In another mixing bowl, whisk together the chocolate instant pudding mix and 1 1/2 cups of cold milk for 2 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes until thickened. Stir in the melted chocolate mixture.

Pour the chocolate pudding mixture over the cream cheese layer in the pie plate.

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until set.

Before serving, spread the remaining whipped topping over the pie.

Optional: Garnish with chocolate shavings or additional cookie crumbs.
