Ingredients
  • 3 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 packet Active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon zest
  • 1/2 cup Powdered sugar
Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the milk and heat until warm, but not boiling.
  3. Pour the warm milk mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Punch down the dough and transfer it to a greased baking dish.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the dish for 10 minutes.
  10. In a small bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, lemon zest, and vanilla extract.
  11. Drizzle the glaze over the cake and let it set before serving.
