  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with milk.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  6. In a saucepan, melt the butter for the topping. Add brown sugar, almonds, and heavy cream. Bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes.
  7. Pour the topping over the cake batter.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  10. Transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
