Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the tomato sauce. Mix until just combined.

Fold in the chopped walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
