Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.

In a medium bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Set aside.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually mix in the flour mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Fold in the mashed bananas.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.

Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

While the cake is baking, split the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. In a small bowl, combine the powdered sugar, vanilla bean seeds, and heavy cream. Stir until smooth.
