Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350Ā°F (175Ā°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water. Mix until well combined.
  3. Divide the batter into three equal parts. Leave one part plain, add red food coloring to the second part, and blue food coloring to the third part. Mix each part until the color is evenly distributed.
  4. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans. Pour the plain batter into one pan, the red batter into another, and the blue batter into the third pan.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Once the cakes are completely cooled, place the plain cake on a serving plate. Spread a layer of whipped cream on top.
  8. Slice the strawberries and arrange them in a rectangular shape in the top left corner of the cake to resemble the stars on the American flag.
  9. Place the blueberries in rows next to the strawberries to create the blue field of stars.
  10. Take the red cake and cut it into strips. Arrange the strips on the remaining portion of the cake to resemble the stripes on the American flag.
  11. Serve and enjoy!
