Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Add the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.

Divide the batter equally into two bowls.

In one bowl, add the cocoa powder and mix until fully incorporated.

In the other bowl, add the red food coloring and mix until the batter turns red.

Spoon a tablespoon of the chocolate batter into the center of each cake pan.

Spoon a tablespoon of the red batter into the center of the chocolate batter in each pan.

Continue alternating the batters until all the pans are filled.

Tap the pans gently on the counter to remove any air bubbles.
