Ingredients
  • 2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 cup Granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable oil
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Boiling water
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter
  • 2 cup Semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. Stir in boiling water. The batter will be thin, but that's okay.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. In a saucepan, melt the butter and chocolate over low heat. Stir until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool for 5 minutes.
  9. In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  10. Fold the melted chocolate mixture into the whipped cream.
  11. Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a generous amount of the chocolate fudge frosting on top.
  12. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with the remaining frosting.
  13. Decorate as desired.
  14. Let the cake rest for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
