Ingredients
  • 1 pound Ground beef
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 clove Garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoon Tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 package Refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 large Egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Water
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is browned and cooked through.
  3. Drain any excess fat from the skillet. Stir in the tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  5. Unroll the pie crusts and cut out circles using a round cookie cutter or a glass.
  6. Spoon a tablespoon of the beef mixture onto one half of each dough circle. Top with shredded cheese.
  7. Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges together to seal.
  8. Place the hand pies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. In a small bowl, whisk together the beaten egg and water. Brush the egg wash over the tops of the hand pies.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the hand pies are golden brown.
  11. Let the hand pies cool for a few minutes before serving.
