  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a pie dish.
  3. Peel, core, and slice the apples.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  5. Add the sliced apples to the bowl and toss until coated.
  6. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust.
  7. Dot the top of the filling with butter.
  8. Roll out the second pie crust and place it on top of the filling.
  9. Trim and crimp the edges of the crust.
  10. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
