  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the lemon zest and lemon juice.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes.
  10. Transfer the cakes to a wire rack to cool completely.
  11. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and lemon juice until smooth.
  12. Place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of the lemon glaze on top.
  13. Place the second cake layer on top and spread the remaining lemon glaze on top.
  14. Let the cake rest for 1 hour before serving.
