Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  4. Divide the batter in half. In one half, stir in the cocoa powder until fully incorporated.
  5. To create the zebra pattern, spoon a dollop of vanilla batter into the center of the prepared pan. Then spoon a dollop of chocolate batter directly on top. Continue alternating dollops of batter until all the batter is used.
  6. Using a knife or skewer, gently swirl the batters together to create a marbled effect.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
