Swirled Zebra Cake
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
-
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
-
Divide the batter in half. In one half, stir in the cocoa powder until fully incorporated.
-
To create the zebra pattern, spoon a dollop of vanilla batter into the center of the prepared pan. Then spoon a dollop of chocolate batter directly on top. Continue alternating dollops of batter until all the batter is used.
-
Using a knife or skewer, gently swirl the batters together to create a marbled effect.
-
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Serve and enjoy!
