The Swedish Tea Ring, also known as Vetekrans or Vetebullar, is a traditional Swedish pastry often enjoyed during fika, a Swedish coffee break.

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, milk, and almond extract. Add to the dry ingredients and mix well.

Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Sprinkle with raisins and almonds. Roll up tightly, starting from a long side.

Place the dough on a greased baking sheet, shaping it into a ring. Pinch the ends together to seal.

Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.

In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar and water to make a glaze. Drizzle over the warm tea ring.
