Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just blended.

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Once the cakes are cooled, spread a layer of whipped cream on top of one cake layer. Top with sliced strawberries. Repeat with the remaining cake layers.
