Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the cake flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

In a medium bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.

In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Fold in the whipped cream.

Slice the strawberries.

Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread half of the cream mixture over the cake and top with half of the sliced strawberries. Repeat with the remaining cake layer, cream mixture, and strawberries.

Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour before serving.
