  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large pan, heat some oil and brown the steak and kidney. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  4. Add the steak and kidney back to the pan and pour in the Guinness and beef stock.
  5. Add the Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 hours until the meat is tender.
  6. In a separate pan, melt the butter and stir in the flour to make a roux.
  7. Gradually whisk in the cooking liquid from the meat until thickened.
  8. Place the meat mixture in a pie dish and top with puff pastry.
  9. Brush the pastry with beaten egg and bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Allow the pie to rest for 10 minutes before serving.
