Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round cake pan.

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Pour the mixture into the greased cake pan.

Slice the star fruit and arrange the slices on top of the sugar mixture.

In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate bowl, beat sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until creamy. Gradually add the dry ingredients and milk, alternating between the two, and mix well.

Pour the batter over the star fruit slices in the cake pan.
