Ingredients
  • 6 apple Granny Smith Apples
  • 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Unsalted Butter
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 9-inch Pie Crust
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Peel, core, and slice the Granny Smith apples.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Trim the edges.
  5. Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust. Dot the top with butter and drizzle with lemon juice.
  6. Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the apple filling. Seal and crimp the edges.
  7. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  8. In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the top crust.
  9. Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  10. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.
