Ingredients
  • 1.5 cup All-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup Cocoa powder
  • 1.5 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup Sour cream
  • 0.75 cup Boiling water
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the sour cream. Mix well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
