  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually mix in the flour mixture, alternating with sour cream. Fold in the chopped apples.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon, brown sugar, and chopped walnuts.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the batter. Pour the remaining batter over the top, and sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  7. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
