Ingredients
  • 1.5 cup All-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup Cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.75 cup Unsalted butter
  • 1.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 0.5 cup Hot water
  • 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.5 cup Powdered sugar
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
  5. Stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream until just simmering. Remove from heat and pour over the chocolate. Let sit for 1-2 minutes, then whisk until smooth.
  8. Place the cake on a serving plate and pour the chocolate ganache over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides.
  9. Let the cake sit for at least 1 hour to allow the ganache to set. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
