  2. Heat a large pan over medium heat and cook the ground beef until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté the onion, carrot, and peas until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Add the cooked ground beef back to the pan and stir in the beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato paste. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, peel and dice the potatoes. Boil them in salted water until tender. Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish and spread the mashed potatoes on top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown.
  8. Let the cottage pie rest for 10 minutes before serving.
