Shepherd’s Pie is traditionally made with ground lamb, but many recipes use ground beef instead.

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.

Add the chopped onion, carrots, and minced garlic to the skillet with the ground beef. Cook for 5 minutes or until the vegetables soften.

Stir in the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and beef stock. Bring to a simmer and cook for another 5 minutes.

Add the frozen peas and simmer for a few more minutes until heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Meanwhile, peel and chop the potatoes. Place them in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until tender.

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter and milk. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Transfer the meat and vegetable mixture to a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the top.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.
