Shepherd’s Pie is traditionally made with lamb, but the use of ground beef became popular in the United States.

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.

Add the onion, carrots, and peas to the skillet and cook for 5 minutes.

Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes.

Meanwhile, peel and dice the potatoes. Place them in a pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook until tender, about 15 minutes.

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth.

Pour the beef mixture into a baking dish. Top with the mashed potatoes, spreading them evenly.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown.

Let the Shepherd's Pie rest for 10 minutes before serving.
