Ingredients
  • 2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoon Sugar
  • 2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 stick Unsalted butter
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut the butter into small cubes and add it to the dry ingredients. Use your fingertips or a pastry cutter to rub the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together. Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch (5 cm) thick.
  4. Using a round biscuit cutter or a glass, cut out scones from the dough. Place the scones onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Bake the scones in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown. Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before serving.
