Cottage pie is a traditional British dish that originated in the late 18th century. It was originally made with leftover roasted meat, but nowadays it is commonly made with minced meat.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

In a large pan, cook the sausages and bacon until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.

In the same pan, sauté the onion, garlic, carrots, and celery until softened.

Add the tomato paste, beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and rosemary. Stir well.

Return the sausages and bacon to the pan and simmer for 10 minutes.

In a separate pot, cook the potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with butter, salt, and black pepper.

Transfer the sausage and bacon mixture to a baking dish and top with the mashed potatoes.

Sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden.
