Saskatoon berries are native to Canada and are often called ‘prairie berries’ due to their abundance on the Canadian prairies.

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the Saskatoon berries, sugar, flour, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
  3. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Trim the edges.
  4. Pour the Saskatoon berry mixture into the pie crust.
  5. Dot the top of the filling with small pieces of butter.
  6. Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the filling. Seal the edges and make slits on the top crust for venting.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool for at least 1 hour before serving.
  9. Serve the Saskatoon Berry Pie with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, if desired.
