  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, mix the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter-sugar mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  7. Press half of the cookie dough into the bottom of a greased deep dish pie pan.
  8. Pour the caramel sauce over the cookie dough, spreading it evenly.
  9. Sprinkle sea salt flakes over the caramel.
  10. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining cookie dough on top of the caramel layer.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  12. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 60 minutes before serving.
  13. Serve warm or at room temperature.
