Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and rum.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the crushed pineapple.

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once the cake is cooled, sift powdered sugar over the top. Slice and serve.
