Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the cake flour, black sesame powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. While the cake is baking, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar together until stiff peaks form.
  7. Once the cake is cooled, spread the whipped cream evenly over the top. Sprinkle with black sesame seeds.
  8. Carefully roll up the cake from the short end, using the parchment paper to help. Place the roll on a serving platter and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  9. Slice and serve chilled.
