Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Cut in the unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and vanilla extract.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom and sides of a greased pie dish.

Spread the red currants over the dough.

Roll out the remaining dough and cut into strips to create a lattice pattern on top of the pie.
