Rainbow Cake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three 8-inch round cake pans.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk.

Divide the batter evenly into six bowls.

Add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl and mix until desired colors are achieved.

Spoon the colored batter into the prepared cake pans, layering the colors.

Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once the cakes are cooled, stack them on a serving plate, spreading a layer of buttercream frosting between each layer.

Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining buttercream frosting.
