  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cut the butter into small pieces and add it to the dry ingredients. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it comes together. Pat the dough into a circle about 1 inch thick. Cut into 8 wedges. Place the scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow the scones to cool for a few minutes before serving.
