  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
  3. Pour the caramel sauce into a 9-inch round baking dish, spreading it evenly on the bottom.
  4. Pour the pumpkin mixture over the caramel sauce.
  5. Place the baking dish in a larger roasting pan and fill the roasting pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the baking dish.
  6. Carefully transfer the roasting pan to the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes, or until the flan is set around the edges but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  7. Remove the baking dish from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature.
  8. Once cooled, refrigerate the flan for at least 1 hour, or until fully chilled.
  9. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the baking dish to loosen the flan. Place a serving plate on top of the dish and carefully invert the flan onto the plate.
