Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.

In a medium bowl, combine the prunes and boiling water. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then drain and chop the prunes.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Fold in the chopped prunes and walnuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar. Serve and enjoy!
