Pound Cake
Pound cake got its name from the traditional recipe which calls for a pound each of butter, sugar, eggs, and flour.

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

In a bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.

Stir in the vanilla extract.

Pour the batter into a greased and floured loaf pan.

Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the pound cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes.

Transfer to a wire rack and let it cool completely.
