  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Roll out the marzipan into a circle slightly smaller than the cake pan.
  7. Place the marzipan circle in the bottom of the pan.
  8. Arrange the pineapple rings on top of the marzipan.
  9. Pour the cake batter over the pineapple rings.
  10. Bake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  11. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
