  2. Peel and core the pears, then slice them into thin wedges.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the sugar and butter until creamy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the sugar mixture, alternating with the milk.
  7. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  8. Pour the batter into a greased tart pan.
  9. Arrange the pear slices on top of the batter, pressing them lightly into the surface.
  10. Sprinkle the sliced almonds over the pears.
  11. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the pears are tender.
  12. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 15 minutes.
  13. Heat the apricot jam in a small saucepan until melted.
  14. Brush the melted jam over the top of the tart.
