  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Spread half of the batter into the prepared cake pan. Arrange sliced peaches on top and sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar. Spoon the remaining batter over the peaches.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and chopped pecans. Sprinkle the mixture over the batter.
  6. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
