Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add brown sugar and amaretto liqueur. Stir until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Pour the mixture into the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly. Arrange peach slices on top of the mixture.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. In a separate large bowl, cream together the remaining butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with milk. Mix until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter over the peaches in the cake pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, invert the cake onto a serving plate and let it cool completely.
  10. Sprinkle sliced almonds on top of the cooled cake. Serve and enjoy!
