Orange Chocolate Marble Cake with Orange Buttercream Frosting
Ingredients
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
-
In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
-
In a large bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and orange zest.
-
Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the orange juice and milk. Add a few drops of orange food coloring, if desired, and mix until well combined.
-
Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan. Add the cocoa powder to the remaining batter and mix until well combined. Pour the chocolate batter over the vanilla batter in the pan.
-
Use a knife or skewer to create a marble effect by swirling the two batters together.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
-
Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
In a medium bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest, and beat until smooth and fluffy.
-
Once the cake has cooled, frost it with the orange buttercream frosting.
-
Slice and serve.
