  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a small bowl, dissolve the instant coffee granules in hot water and set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  6. Stir in the dissolved coffee and chopped pralines.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, spread whipped cream over the top of the cake and garnish with chocolate shavings.
