Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23cm) round cake pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk. Fold in the mixed dried fruits and chopped nuts.

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.

Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Remove from the oven and let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack and let it cool completely.

Once cooled, wrap the cake in plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best flavor.
