Neapolitan Layer Cake is inspired by the popular Neapolitan ice cream flavor, which consists of three flavors: vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry.

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare three 9-inch round cake pans by greasing and flouring them.
  3. In separate bowls, prepare the vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry cake mixes according to the package instructions.
  4. Divide each cake batter evenly among the prepared pans.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
  6. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool completely.
  7. Once the cakes are cool, level the tops if necessary.
  8. Place one layer of cake on a serving plate and spread a layer of vanilla buttercream on top.
  9. Repeat with the remaining layers, alternating between chocolate buttercream and strawberry buttercream.
  10. Once all the layers are stacked, frost the sides of the cake with vanilla buttercream.
  11. Pour the chocolate ganache over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
  12. Decorate the top of the cake with fresh strawberries and sprinkles.
  13. Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours before serving.
