  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Flatten each mound slightly with the back of a spoon.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops spring back when lightly touched. Remove from the oven and let cool completely.
  7. In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue to beat until stiff peaks form.
  8. Spread a dollop of marshmallow creme on the flat side of one cookie, then top with another cookie to create a sandwich. Repeat with the remaining cookies.
