  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Melt the butter and dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy.
  4. Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring constantly.
  5. Fold in the ground walnuts, ground almonds, flour, baking powder, vanilla sugar, and rum extract.
  6. Pour the batter into a greased and lined cake tin.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the tin for 10 minutes.
  9. Transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, whip the whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
  11. Spread the whipped cream over the top and sides of the cake.
  12. Decorate with chocolate shavings or nuts, if desired.
  13. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. Enjoy!
